English Open Compak Championship

Thank you to Laporte-CPC Sponsored Emma Stacey on her guest blog for us on the English Open Compak Championship at Orston last weekend!
English Open Compak Championship

Held at Orston Shooting Ground on 4th March, the English Open Compak marked the first major title and selection shoot of 2018, as well as being a GB Team selection shoot.

The course itself was steady, with concentration being the name of the game although the freezing temperatures offered another challenge. The event ran smoothly, and thanks must go to Orston Shooting Ground for setting up the shoot despite the snow and appalling weather earlier in the week.
The standard of shooting was very high, with 5x99s recorded from Ben Husthwaite, Matt Hance, Henry Arnold, Matt Bone and Anthony Dean. Whilst these scores are common in Compak, for five shooters to shoot 99 is still an incredible feat. It was a similar story in Juniors, with Josh Bridges, James Bradley-Day, Henry Young, Ronnie Green and Tom McGregor all shooting 97.

Josh won the junior shoot-off with 24/25, whilst Ben Husthwaite beat Henry Arnold in a sudden death shoot-off for the overall title of English Open Compak Champion. James Bradley-Day claimed silver in Juniors, Henry Young the bronze, whilst Matt Hance finished third overall.
It was a great day for Laporte-sponsored shooters with Georgia Moule winning her third Ladies national title in the last 12 months with a 95, beating Amy Easeman (silver) and Laporte-sponsored Cheryl Hall (bronze) who both shot 94.

Laporte-sponsored Alfie Tibbles shot a fantastic 94 to win the inaugural Colts title, with Laporte-sponsored Charlie Soanes finishing 2nd with 89 and Ollie Zaitschenko third with 88. Thank you to the individuals and companies that have invested in trophies for the colts, meaning that for the first time a colts category was included. It serves as great motivation and reward for the youngest members of the shooting community.
Vets was won by Anthony Dean (99/100) and Super Vets by Andy Jones (94/100).

The UK Compak Championship will be held at Barbury Shooting Ground on the 25th March.
