James Willett from Australia wins the men's Double Trap World Cup title in Rome! USA's Jeffrey Holguin gets the Silver and Malta's William Chetcuti takes the Bronze medal. Steve Scott made the semi-finals just missing out on the final by one target.

“I had a big year, in 2016. I got to represent Australia at the Olympic Games. I managed to come 5th in Rio. I was a little bit disappointed on not winning a medal. I came here trying to finish the year on a high, The next aim is to make the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and hopefully to win a gold medal there.” James Willett

In the ladies Skeet USA’s Kimberly Rhode wins her second World Cup title in the women's Skeet event. In Rome over China's Wei Meng in the Gold medal match. Thailand's Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit claims the Bronze. Amber Hill missed out on a place in the finals by 1 target.

“It was an incredible experience,” said Rhode, who had already won an ISSF World Cup Final in 2011. “We had some fantastic competitors out there, a lot of experience on the line. I am just very happy to be able to compete against them, and do as well as I did. I am very thankful for the day.”

The 2016 ISSF season closes in Rome with the Shotgun World Cup Final

The Valle Aniene Shotgun Range will host the best shooters of the 2016 ISSF World Cup Series, the Rio 2016 medallists and the holders of the 2015 World Cup Final titles.

More than seven months after the 2016 season kicked-off, the ISSF World Cup Final in Shotgun events is about to seal it, awarding its five seasonal title in Rome (ITA).

The competition will take place from the 10th to the 16th of October. A total of 57 shooters will participate, representing 26 nations and piling up 57 starts in the five events. The first title will be awarded on Wednesday, October 12th.

Good luck to all the participants including out Laporte/CPC sponsored shooters, Ben Llewellin and Amber Hill.

Also qualified for the competition are the Rio 2016 Olympic Games medal winners and the holders of the 2015 ISSF World Cup Final titles. Among the participants, Italy’s four-time Trap Men Olympic medallist Giovanni Pellielo will shoot on his home turf, along with Skeet Olympic Champions Diana Bacosi and Gabriele Rossetti.

Women’s Trap Olympic Gold medallist Catherine Skinner of Australia will also aim at the seasonal title, also competing with his own teammate Emma Elizabeth Cox, Gold medallist at this year’s World Cup stage in San Marino.

To qualify for the ISSF World Cup Final, athletes had to earn points all along the 2016 ISSF World Cup Series, which took place in Nicosia (CYP), Rio de Janeiro (BRA), San Marino (SMR) and Baku (AZE).
