Laporte Sponsored Emma Stacey on the BUCS Championships
Laporte Sponsored Emma Stacey wrote a piece for us on her recent win at the BUCS National Shooting Championship for University students. Congratulations Emma on your fantastic score. BUCS National Shooting Championships Held annually at West Midlands Shooting Ground, the BUCS National University Shooting Championships occurred over the weekend of 2-3rd December. The Championships represent a unique opportunity for university students who are both experienced international shots and near beginners to compete together. 2016 Champions Harper Adams and previous Champions RAU always provide stiff competition in the team event and a variety of international shooters including 2015 Junior World Champion Ben Sutton, England team member Emma Stacey, AAA shooter Ben Mcilwaine and various GB OT/OSK shooters including Emma Haines and Jess Moore means that the individual competition is also hotly contested. The shoot had plenty of variety with a good mixture of straightforward and tricky stands. Stand 8 in particular proved complicated. After the first day Ben Mcilwaine led the way with 92/100 with Ben Sutton only one behind on 91. Meanwhile Emma Stacey led Ladies on 87. The team competition proved a close affair with Exeter and Oxford Brookes edging the ladies and men’s competition respectively after the first day. The second day saw defending champions Harper Adams shoot the course, finishing just 1 clay short of Oxford Brookes’ total. This left the door open for the University of Liverpool to take what would prove to be an unassailable lead in both the mens and ladies team events. The final results saw Ben Mcilwaine win the Men’s title with 92 for Cranfield University, Ben Sutton the Men’s Alumni title with 91, Emma Stacey the Ladies title with 87 for the University of Bath and Ruth Chamberlain the Ladies Alumni title with 52.
